Every choice tells a story.
Each piece we make is part of a larger narrative—one where sustainability and beauty go hand in hand. Our workshop, our materials, even the way we handle sawdust all reflect our commitment: to honor both the people who live with our work and the environment they come from.
10 ways we honor our commitment to sustainability
Net-zero workshop – powered by solar panels and an advanced heat pump system, offsetting all our energy use
Sawdust recycled – given to local farmers for compost, gardens, and walking paths
No plywood, no toxins – built only with solid wood, avoiding formaldehyde and harmful chemicals
Natural finishes – nontoxic oils highlight and protect the wood (with stronger sealers only when needed)
Every scrap repurposed – larger offcuts become stools and boards; smaller ones fuel our wood stove, keeping the shop warm through the winter
Rooted in place – partnering with nearby sawyers and kilns to support local small businesses
Local trees, lasting impact – by using salvaged wood from nearby properties, we give “waste” trees new purpose, store more carbon, and cut fossil fuels by reducing long-distance transport
Restoring the land – Our workhop site was once home to a commercial chicken coop operation. By removing the concrete slabs of the once former coop’s and re-purposing it as a driveway to the shop we were able to give life to that land. Over the course of the past 6 years through cover cropping and composting we have transformed a once barren site into a rich biodynamic field bursting with life again and now home to many fruit trees and wildflowers.
Supporting ecosystems – Milkweed and native plantings nurture the return of Monarch butterflies and other local pollinators each year on our new orchard and protected meadows.
Community building – Collaborating with local Passive House and net zero home architects to advance progressive, environmentally responsible design.
